Based out of the south-east, Mountains are a heavy quartet who take the threads of stoner, post-rock and grunge and weave them into a tapestry of huge. Their debut record ‘Dust in the Glare’ released in early 2017 shirked the blueprint of traditional stoner and embodies a refusal to fit into one particular sound. The positive reception from the underground landed Desertfest and Black Deer Festival spots alongside support slots for 1000 Mods, Atomic Bitchwax and Green Lung. Follow up record Tides End (2022) was recorded with Lewis Johns (Svalbard, Employed To Serve) at The Ranch in Southampton and focuses on accentuating more post-rock and post-metal textures but maintains the direct songwriting from their debut. Again the scene responded with a return slot at Desertfest and support for Aussie riff merchants A Gazillion Angry Mexicans. Five years on from their debut Mountains continue to push onward to an ever expanding sound.
